I use the copy and paste function from the clipboard frequently to allow access to certain pages. It worked fine until I updated Firefox to latest 29.0 version. It no longer works! I followed the usual instructions to create a user.js file and put it in the profile directory. But the problem is still there. Need help with this problem.

Chosen solution

You can no longer do this via buttons that use JavaScript to do the copy/paste.
You can only do this via the keyboard.

Use keyboard shortcuts if the buttons on the web page or other methods aren't working.

  • Copy: Ctrl+C or Ctrl+Insert (Mac: Command + C)
  • Paste: Ctrl+V or Shift+Insert (Mac: Command + V)
  • Cut: Ctrl+X or Shift+Delete (Mac: Command + X)

I found that after Firefox v29, a LOT of my settings and
add-ons were changed / reset. Try this; Start Firefox in Safe Mode
While you are in safe mode;
Firefox Options > Advanced > General.
Look for and turn off Use Hardware Acceleration.
Then check ALL of your settings. Browser and add-ons. Then restart.

Tried both options. It doesn't work. When I try to cut and paste, Firefoz sends the following message: "Copy/cut/paste is not available in Mozilla and Firefox. Do you want more information about this issue?"

I have reopened a bug to add back the clipboard access. For the meantime, you can instead use Firefox ESR to continue using the functionality.
