Someone else had the same issue. Mal-ware was the cause.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Hi thomas59, Please check to see in this troubleshooting article, Fix common audio and video issues is helpful first. Chrome has a built in player, so troubleshooting video in Firefox may be a little different.

Today there was also an update to Flash, and it looks like that this is your default video player.

Please try the following:

  1. Disable each of the video players that load the video that you are viewing.
  2. Reload the page and see if the issue continues.
  3. Set the video plugin to "Ask to Activate" to reveal which plugin is loading. (For example on youtube, if I disable Flash, HTML5 player loads, not any of the other video players. This will tell you if it is a built in player to the website)
  4. After finding what plugin playing the video is giving issues you can try disabling hardware acceleration to see if there are improvements.

Please post back with your results.

You can also check for issues caused by plugins (plugins are not affected by Firefox Safe Mode)

Try a scan with AdwCleaner.
