Here is what's in about:config:

browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash;false

The documentation says this shouldn't happen.

Have you tried resetting Firefox or reinstalling it? This seems to be an isolated issue as I've tried to reproduce your problem (with the same settings) but my session did not restore like yours did.

Thanks for your reply. I haven't reinstalled FF and don't plan to. I have too many images and files blocked to want to go through that again.

I've reported this problem and the browser freeze that began in July, and there don't seem to be any definite answers, though I appreciate the suggestions. This is probably interwoven with Windows 8 defects, and there doesn't seem to be a fix for those either.

Thanks for your help, but this time I just got stuck with a hierarchy of lemons, i.e., software that does not work as documented.
