Firefox 35.0.1 doesn't recognize that latest flash is installed
There have been a series of updates to flash, and I have kept up with them as my package manager has allowed. However, firefox is not recognizing the latest as the latest.
about:plugins shows that the version is 11.2.202.425 my package manager shows the version is 11.2.202.440
Firefox and my package manager agree on the path to the .so file. In fact, I copied the path to the .so file out of firefox and checked it in the terminal and it's the right package version AND strings tells me that the version string embedded in the .so itself is the latest. Yet, somehow, firefox really, genuinely thinks that it's version .425 instead of .440.
I have restarted firefox. I have even rebooted, even though that shouldn't be necessary.
Chosen solution
Currently this version of Flash has been marked as vulnerable: Adobe Flash Player 11.2.202.440 and earlier versions for Linux
This is odd that the package and the about:plugins page is different though.
Does this happen also when you update to the latest: [11.2.202.442]

Yep. Now it recognizes 11.2.202.442.
