Safekey doesn't show in browser
Have installed Mcafee Safekey, it's all installed but when I open Firefox the Safekey button should show in the browser near the search bar. It doesn't, it's not in as an extension. Have reinstalled both Firefox and Safekey, run through instructions for to go to tools/ad dons, recent updates, still does not show. Works in IE! I am on win8.1 Why is it not showing?
Chosen solution
I have used FireFox for about six years, and greatly prefer it to IE and Chrome. However, on a number of occasions after an update I have spent a half a day or more trying to restore a disabled McAfee SafeKey, a tool upon which I am very dependent. I've had it. I can't take wasting my time in such an exercise. Goodbye.

Hmm, I think I found the same steps you did:
Mozilla Firefox
- Open Firefox.
- Click the Firefox menu and select Add-ons.
- Select Recent Updates.
- Select McAfee SafeKey and click Enable.
- Click the Restart now link to restart Firefox.
From: http://service-home.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101515
On the Add-ons page, under extensions, if you scroll to the bottom, can you find it on the grayed area with other disabled extensions?
If not, it seems that it hasn't been successfully pushed into Firefox.
I have no idea about these steps: https://community.mcafee.com/thread/76153#discussion-361930
In another thread on that site, a moderator suggested to contact McAfee for free support.
Thanks, Mcafee are looking into after having been all over laptop, did the same as above and got nowhere too. Leave it with them for 5-10days. Will re look at the graded out ones, not sure if I noticed them. Thanks again for replying
I do not know if you have this problem, but;
Please do not comment in bug reports. Bug 1155413 - Many icons missing from Add-on Customize Manager https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1155413
Type this in the address bar. Is it listed here? chrome://mozapps/content/extensions/extensions.xul?

I have not commented in bug reports, all my other add owns etc are working it's only Mcafee Safekey and it's working in previous version on other laptop, hence raising question. This was my first question
Sorry, forgot to say I checked and it's not listed
The add-on is not listed? Go to it's web page and install it. Are there any problems / errors reported?

Thats the first place I went as you can only install from mcafee website. no error reported. Works with older versions of firfox bht not 38
I've called the big guys to help you. Good luck.
Thanks, i have noticed on my other laptop which had an older version of firefox when safekey was installed on that and it is still working with this weeks update to version 38.1. This was a new install on 2nd laptop, it had latest version of firefox and it refuses to allow the extension to show/install into firefox.
Its a real pain as its back to notes etc for passwords, will keep checking forum. thanks again
Could you check for possible customized settings blocking the installion of extensions? Here's how:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the search box above the list, type or paste xpin and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Please check for these:
(A) xpinstall.whitelist.required - default value is true, should be true, if "user set" to false, double-click to switch back to true
(B) xpinstall.whitelist.directRequest - usually not present, if "user set" to false, try a right-click > Reset
(C) xpinstall.whitelist.fileRequest - usually not present, if "user set" to false, try a right-click > Reset

Thank you, had a look, the 1st one is correct but the other 2 do not appear.
Ultimately this sounds like a McAfee issue. Has McAfee support gotten back to you on this?
