How do make FF retain my options settings when it updates automatically?

Every time FF automatically updates it wipes out my options settings such as use Adobe Reader to open PDF files and always ask where to download files. How can I make FF not change these options? If I wanted the default options I would set them to the default. I find this to be a VERY irritating feature of FF.

Hi, please see - How to fix preferences that won't save.

It's possible that an extension is changing your settings, so you might want to try temporarily disabling them one by one.
