connects to pop server but not download emails

I start TB and bottom left sais connected to server + my email address (pop server) the green bar bottom right showing progress goes 9/10 ths allong and stops no emails download can leave it 29 mins no effect this is a laptop win 8.1 norton 360 all programs AND Tbird upto date. Also have 2 desktops both windows 7 norton 360 on both same settings both thunderbirds work fine any ideas why stopped downloading emails about 5-6 days ago can still send emails just not receive/ download them

Disable Nortons mail scanner. I think you will find it is the fly in this ointment jar
