Firefox keeps lagging when loading websites or while I'm scrolling. It slows, halts and says not responding before going all white. If I wait a minute or so it'll go back to normal but it happens every few minutes. I tried everything listed here: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-and-diagnose-firefox-problems but nothing has helped. I'd hate to switch browsers but I can't deal with the constant lagging.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

It didn't work with Firefox itself in safe mode but it's back to normal with the computer in safe mode.

That means one of the other programs on your system is the cause. As a test, disable your protection programs.
