Since September when Virgin Media moved emails to a new platform spoof emails have been sent using my contacts
Virgin moved its emails to a new platform in September and a lot of people have experienced spoof emails.
When you look into the people to whom they have been sent, they have used email addresses that were contained in old emails received and sent.
Spam has increased and genuine emails sent to me seem to be blocked.
Virgin denies there is a data breach.
A group of us has set up a Facebook Group and I noticed posts about the problem on here. The problem is probably bigger than we know. I am assuming it is not a problem with Thunderbird? Kate

I'm not sure what exactly is meant with 'spoof emails'.

Doesn't look like a Thunderbird problem. You cannot blame Thunderbird for receiving email in the first place. Whether it's legitimate or not is a different story.
Thanks for replying, I am not blaming Thunderbird, I thought a lot of people may be receiving undelivered email reports and think it was due to Thunderbird when it isn't.
By spoof emails I mean: emails sent purporting to be from me to people who were in the cc's of really old emails. Not necessarily people I know. I discovered it has happened to a lot of people who have email accounts with Virgin Media and occurred at the time their email platform transferred. The non-delivery reports get through my Thunderbird.
