So with my current version of firefox, 47.0, every time I add a bookmark either by ctrl-d or by clicking the star, instead of like before when i was running 3x.x something and it just bookmarking it and going about its business now a stupid dialog box appears. The star used to just bookmark/remove bookmark and now it opens a box and adds extra clicking that is unnecessary and aggravating

I don't like things popping up unless it is an error dialog or a notification of some sort. Having this opening up is incredibly distracting and invasive when I am trying to work and I can't find an option to tell it to go away.

Tl;DR how to make bookmarking just save the page to my unsorted and not have a dialog box open EVERY TIME

Clicking the bookmark star should only create a bookmark of the current. Unless v47 was changed on how this works.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac=Options)
key, and then starting Firefox. A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh).

Is the problem still there?

There are a few changes to "Add a new bookmark" in Firefox 47.

1. { Ctrl + D } does open the "Add a bookmark" dialog, but it self closes after 2 - 3 seconds. And it now defaults to the "Bookmarks Menu" folder rather than the "Unsorted Bookmarks" as was done previously.

2. Using the "Star" works similar, with that dialog closing by itself after a few seconds, but it defaults to the "Unsorted Bookmarks" folder as it always has done.
