Hello, I am using the fantastic Thunderbird Portable, and also using it effectively as an e-mail database of past e-mails (eg. useful e-mails from past holidays, banking and investment e-mails, etc. These go back quite a few years.

To reduce the size of the Thunderbird Portable system, it would be useful to be able to export specific user folders relating to specific issues - but subsequently be able to import such exported data back into my active Thunderbird system to search/review/add to the data, and then export the folder again.

Possibly related question - is there a maximum size limitation that the Thunderbird system has? My current folder is 1.7GB with 7,500 files.

I make a backup of the folder every few days and keep the previous 10 backups.

Regards, Kevin Cassidy

The portable version is developed and supported by Portable Apps. You can contact them here. https://portableapps.com

To import and export folders, try the ImportExportTools add-on. For small numbers of messages, use File/Save As/File (Ctrl-S) to save as eml files; import them by drag and drop into TB.

See the 4th-last 'Changed' item in the release notes about folder sizes.
