I kept my Thunderbird profile in USERS/DOCUMENTS/THUNDERBIRD. I copied that to my new operating system from backup and all my e-mail came up properly, but my address book is not there. Where should I look for the address book in my backup?

What exactly did you keep there? The whole profile, or just the message stores? Did you move it by relocating your entire profile, or by changing the Local Directory settings in Thunderbird's account settings?

We follow best practice by putting the profile where Microsoft say it should be put. But you seem to know better.

Zenos,

That was certainly a smart-mouthed reply, and no help at all. I have since resolved the issue.

Thank you.

I miss Eudora.

For reasons best known to yourself, you decided to move all or part of your profile from its usual place to somewhere else. Anyone trying to help you has to first unravel the changes you have made. But you ran straight past all the questions intended to elicit useful information and chose to take offence at my comment that was intended to illustrate that things are as they are for a reason.

The distinction between "all" and "part of" is (or would be) critical to locating the missing items.

Anyhow it is good to know that you have fixed it.
