no sites load on Windows 2008R2 server after updating from 32bit to 64bit version of app

I updated to 64bit version 56.0.2 64bit and no sites load after opening firefox but all is well if i reinstall the 32bit version.

Firefox opens and the circle icon on top left just spins, have tried rebooting of course as well as safe mode and refreshing from within the settings area.

Auto-update pushes the 64bit version so we're rather stuck not being able to just use the 32bit version.
