I need to download an .avi file (using right-click - save as) the only options to SAVE AS TYPE are "Firefox HTML document" or "All files." Neither works. Help!

That is a registered site so they probably implemented protection to prevent video downloads. I think you need to contact them and ask them this question.

It's possible the file that tells Firefox what to do with files is damaged.

mimeTypes.rdf : What to do with what type of file. handlers.json : In Firefox v55+ the name was changed.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

Under the page logo on the left side, you will see Application Basics. Under this find Profile Folder. To its right press the button Show Folder. This will open your file browser to the current Firefox profile. Now Close Firefox.

Locate the above file. Then rename or delete it. Restart Firefox.
