View menu (alt+V) sort by correspondent, Repeat to set unthreaded Repeat to set group by sort.

This will show all mail sorted by correspondent and threaded underneath. Despite the selection of unthreaded.

Thanks very much, Matt! Am used to Outlook doing it automatically, but I no longer use Outlook, or Windows for that matter. Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, Thunderbird and Libreoffice for me now!
