copy of sent email fails and programs locks up
Sorry, but I thought I would try asking again. Surprised no one else seems to be having this problem. I get it at least 1x/day and it is getting annoying.
When the copy to the IMAP fails I get the message that the server went down. On screen my only choice is to cancel the process as I do not get an option to retry the save under this condition. When I cancel, it then leaves the mail I was responding to on screen and I cannot close it. My only choice is to use the Task Mgr to close Tbird and start over.
I am win10 64 bit v1803 using Tbird 60.5.2 I am using imap.aol.com as my server. Is anyone else experiencing the above problem? Suggestions, work arounds or fixes appreciated?

One correction. I send using smtp.comcast.net and receive my email from imap.aol.com. I am using an old Compuserve account. So I am not exactly sure where the online sent email mailbox is set up but I believe it is thru the imap.aol.com.
In order for us to better investigate this issue, we'll need some more information.
Could you please do the following:
- Open the menu > Help > Troubleshooting Information, then click Copy text to Clipboard.
- Go to https://pastebin.com and paste the info from your Troubleshooting Information page, then copy the resulting URL.
- Open a reply to this post, and paste the link to your troubleshooting information.
Next, we'll need you to provide answers to the following question:
- Does Thunderbird work in Thunderbird Safe mode?
- Do you use anti-virus and firewall software? What is the version?
- Who is the email provider?
- Who is the internet provider?
- What is the exact error message?
- What steps did you take right before this happened?

In Tools/Account Settings, select the AOL account in the left pane, then under Copies & Folders the Sent folder is defined (should be Sent on AOL). You say the AOL account sends through the comcast smtp server, but why not send through smtp.aol.com on port 587, STARTTLS security?
Here is the link: https://pastebin.com/9FyXBdLe I will have to play with SafeMode. Since this is an intermittent problem it may take some time. I am in Win10 and using Windows Defender and MBAM 3.7.1. I have TBird working with both Compuserve that is served by AOL, and Comcast. I only seem to have the problem with my Compuserve account which is my primary one. Internet is via Comcast/Xfinity The error messages is simply that the copy of my sent email failed. Sometimes I have the option to retry and it works. Other times there is no retry option and the program just hangs there. I can open other windows but if I hit close or X out of the fail the program locks up and the only choice is to use TaskMgr to close it down. Thank you.
Thanx for the tip on replies. I'm new to the forum and wasn't sure how to post a correction or added info. Suggestions?

Each of your posts on the forum had an edit link on the right of it. Between does this reply solve the problems and "report Abuse". At least that is my understanding. As a moderator I get an edit and delete on every post so I can not actually verify what I say.
