I reset Firefox because my computer was running slow. Now, every time I start up the Internet, I get the Firefox Privacy Notice instead of my home page. How do I keep it from appearing?

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Hi NJS318, I assume everything else is normal?

First question, was that post-upgrade / new profile page accidentally saved as your home page? If it always appears in a new window -- Ctrl+n to launch one -- then I would check that first.

  • Any system: type or paste about:preferences into the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it

In the left column, click Home. Then on the right side, check the "Home page and new windows" setting, and any Custom URLs listed.

If the problem is that both your home page and the privacy page appear, check for a second URL following a vertical bar character. As a short example:

https://www.bing.com/|https://www.google.com/

If it is not the home page, hmm, where is it coming from? Firefox is supposed to recognize the difference between the first startup after an update and every later update. Where is that setting...
