firefox is not saving the latest bookmarks, stopped after 12/31/2019
after one the recent updates, bookmarks got messed up and i had to correct/add a bunch
now, what bookmarks firefox saves for exporting etc are very old ones; when you export them, they are very different than the ones on the site that i use daily
also, for old firefox data, the bookmarks stopped being accurate on 12/31/2019..............you could actually open them and read them
now the ones that are saved are nonsensical,,,,,,

Let's start with, [v57+] Places Maintenance is built into Firefox.
Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.
You will find Places Database near the bottom. Press the Verify Integrity button.
When done, copy and post the results here.
Hi robertbokern, is there a discrepancy between what you see when you look at your bookmarks interactively and when you look at the export (bookmarks.html, for example) in a tab?
For interactive viewing, it may be best to use the Library window. You can call that up using "Show All Bookmarks" or Ctrl+Shift+b.
In the left pane, Firefox will show the three different "containers" or "root folders":
- Bookmarks Toolbar
- Bookmarks Menu
- Other Bookmarks
By default, Other Bookmarks will be displayed first. Click a different container to view its contents. When exporting, the items under Menu will appear before the ones in Toolbar and Other in the page.
The Old Firefox Data folder is the result of a Refresh of Firefox. The data in that folder is static forever once that folder is created. And when a Refresh is done again an additional Profile folder will be added in the Old Firefox Data folder which is dated for the time the additional Refresh is done.
All subsequently added Firefox user data would be saved to the new Profile which is created at the time the Refresh is performed. Browsing History in the new Profile starts with the Refresh; Bookmarks are appended (or should be) to the bookmarks present at the time of the Refresh; same for Logins data.
