How to permit access to the microphone on my iMac desktop

more options

I cannot use dictation on my Microsoft WORD program or my email (netaddress.com or gmail) accounts. The WORD program tells me it cannot access the microphone and I need to grant permission to my server (Firefox is my default) to allow it to access the dictation process. Thank you.

First and more generally, if you use this simple test page, does Firefox prompt you for permission, and can it use your microphone (MDN = Mozilla Developer Network):

Word Online + OneDrive

Unfortunately, the way Microsoft has set up microphone access for editing Word documents on OneDrive was not working in Firefox as of early September: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1303545

I got the same error in Chrome on my test document: https://1drv.ms/w/s!AusmYpecTBblh22Cxl4WTuiV-ZKc?e=UozU1I

Email Sites

I haven't tested these myself.

Are you able to use the MacOS "Keyboard dictation" feature as a workaround? Here's an article about that feature:
