I prefer Firefox but speed-tests show it is considerably slower than Chrome and Edge. I have cable network connection. Max download speed is 1000 Mbps. Test show above 900 Mbps for Edge and Chrome and 5-600 Mbps for Firefox, sometimes it is much slower and sometimes download stops for 5-20 seconds. I therefore tried "Refresh Firefox" - and my dear Bookmark sidebar disappeared!! Firefox info told me bookmarks would be saved. Well, it is saved, but it is real troublesome to use it compared to my old sidebar. I WANT MY OLD SIDEBAR BACK - ANY HELP? Kind regards Toralf

Hi Toralf, To show the sidebar, could you try the instructions in the following article and see if they help: Use the Firefox Sidebar to access bookmarks, history and synced tabs

If you're referring to something other than that sidebar, it was most likely created by an add-on.

If you need further help, let us know.

I would add to the previous. After the "Refreshing" of Firefox, the start page seemed to have been hijacked by a Microsoft start-page and I could not find Firefox. I had to download and install Firefox again. Toralf

Hello Chris. That was really something. It saved my day. It is not easy for an 80 year old fossil to find his way through this matters. I really thank you! After I wrote my question I realized I had some bookmarks under the toolbar and a button on the top right marked "Other bookmarks" (in norwegian). With the button I got a bookmark sidebar to the right too. Well, with the help of the article I found out how to clean up. Now my old bookmark sidebar is nearly back to normal. I just have to wait for the icons left to bookmarks to appear. Kind regards and thank you again. Toralf

Note that you need to open (visit) a bookmark to make Firefox retrieve the favicon.

Hello cor-el Many thanks to you too. Now most of the favicon are retrieved. So far, about 20% of the bookmarks have not returned favicons. Kind regards Toralf
