On my laptop the webpage is too small to read. zooming with ctrl + helps, but disappears in any next page, so one has to do the zooming again. In IE on can set a zooming level of 100,125 or higher percentage and that stays in for the next pages

Have you installed Firefox yet and tested it? I have Firefox and it remembers each page. You may have to set each site to your liking, but it should remember even after restart. Also if you have a mouse, CTRL+centre roller controls Zoom as well in FF and IE
