A website ICQ downloaded a toolbar to Firefox. I can deselect it (by using "View" and "Toolbars..." but cannot remove it from the list. Upon closing Firefox , it wants to change my default search engine to ICQ. I have used "Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel and removed everything associated with ICQ but that doen't help. Is there any way to purge that ICQ toolbar from the list of available toolbars other than to deselect it?

That program probably installed an extension in Firefox, you need to uninstall that extension.
