The keyboard shortcuts for Firefox are driving me bonkers. In particular, the Backspace key is causing me no end of frustration. If I'm filling out a form and accidentally click off of it (a fairly common occurrence when using a laptop with a touchpad mouse), then hit Backspace (whether I'm trying to erase a portion of my entry or just on accident), it sends me back a page, which deletes everything I've written. I Google searched for a solution to this, and I saw a post that indicated that Firefox's keyboard shortcuts could not be customized, but the version of Firefox was not indicated. I'm using 3.6.14 right now. Can the shortcuts be customized/deleted? If so, how? Is there an add-on that will permit this? I've lost a LOT of information adding up to probably hours of work on various forms, and if I can't customize this, I may need to switch browsers...

A little more detail for those of you using Mozilla on Windows.

In the address bar type: about:config

You will then be able to modify the preference for browser.backspace_action per the direction on the link above.

Thanks for the fix.
