How do I save pictures instantly?

I can save pictures from websites instantly using Internet Explorer, Chrome, even Opera and Safari. It seems Firefox is the only browser that doesn't allow me to save pictures instantly. If I save a picture, Firefox will try downloading it again instead of just saving it, despite the fact the picture is already loaded on the web page (as if Firefox does not use cache). I do not know if anybody finds this feature handy, but I do not. I do not mind if the picture size is less than a few kilobytes, but if it's a 11MB one I do not think I would like my browser to re-download what has already loaded on a web page. That's a waste of time and bandwith. So how do I make (or force) Firefox to save all the pictures I want to save instantly like other browsers?

p.s. I've tried clearing the cache, but to no avail.
