I receive a notice to download and install a fix upgrade to the latest Firefox version but the connection to the server never happens even after an hour of trying. I am running Mountain Lion on my IMac.

If necessary, you can grab a fresh full installer here:

That might be easier than figuring out an alternate URL for the update server...
