when i try to open social networking sites and some open source sites the browser stops responding and i have to shut down the process to restart

Try Removing either Adblock Edge or Adblock Plus, they are about the same thing. And check out Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode and Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox.
