Hi Roundhay125,

Please go into manage your account on both devices and make sure bookmarks are checked. Please see them in the mobile bookmarks folder/desktop bookmarks folder.

IF they are not working after this please open a about:sync-logs after enabling logging in the about:config. Please post back with the results, and if you need more details on how to do this.

Cheers.

Thanks for that. Both are already ticked in Options/Sync (see encl). So any other ideas please?

Tried uninstalling mobile, replacing with beta version. Same result.

Is there a mobile bookmarks folder? Also what is the size of the places.sqlite file that stores the bookmarks locally? Profiles - Where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data I wonder if there is a limit for size.

Guigs2: sorry I should also have said I don't understand what an about: is, but I will try to learn about it...I am non-tech by the way.

Had a look at \Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\mmxp7lv4.default but nearest thing to mobile bookmarks folder is bookmarkbackups which doesn't seem helpful.

Thanks very much for the efforts!

Googled about:config. Typed it into address bar. Got to page. Found extensions.logging.enabled;false in the list.

Is the next step to alter this somehow, perhaps to overtype false to read true?

At which point I guess I will be able to do similar with about:sync-logs (at present the result is "not valid")?

Hi Roundhay125, I made that mistake, it is about:sync-log. Its not plural.

My other question I am not sure if I asked was is the bookmarks checked on the Android device?

Thanks guigs2.

Here is screenshot of about:sync-log result.

Also screenshots from phone showing bookmarks ticked and bookmarks available (I have lots on laptop I hope to take with me on holiday in a few weeks).

...and here is the log if it is useful. I note the word "failed"!

Really appreciate the help!

Just tried downloading Chrome (which I used in the past on laptop) onto phone and bookmarks synced immediately. Don't want to use Chrome.

Uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox on phone again and again got to Account Verified [tick] Your data will begin syncing momentarily. Eventually got back to the tickbox page. All ticked again

Once again looked at laptop Firefox Options/Sync and the again everything is ticked. Only other clue is "pair a device" which tells me to get a code that isn't there when I look.

Back to phone I looked at Customise/Import from Android. That seemed to crash the phone for a while. Eventually ended up with huge list of unsorted bookmarks (my Firefox bookmarks are in folders).

So uninstalled Firefox again :(

There is no pair a device that asks for a code on the new version of sync, this is the older version of sync. Can you please update your Firefox Desktop to version 29.

Also, the network issue may have been from the service interruption on Wed and Thurs.

Thanks again Guigs2, will do.

Looking elsewhere I see Firefox mobile doesn't do folders for bookmarks. Is that correct? Hence huge list I suppose.

My existing Firefox is version 29.0.1 by the way, says it is up to date.

HI Roundhay125, Weird, ok would it be ok if you showed a screenshot of it asking for a code? It may be that sync did not update. Sync your Firefox bookmarks, history, passwords and more IF that is not the case, this may need to open up a bug.

Hi Guigs2 here is the screenshot.

Look like that random click on "Customise/Import from Android" did it though. Shame about not being able to use folders for bookmarks. That makes it rather impractical for me - sorry I didn't realise until they all finally appeared on the phone.

Many thanks for you help.

Hey Roundhay125, My apologies for the delay. This might be overly cautious, but make a back up of the profile folder that this account is attached to. Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles. Once you have a local back up of the file to get you to the new sync please do these steps next:

  1. Removing the current account by clicking "Unlink this Device"
  2. Go to Help > About Firefox and click the button to update
  3. Restart Firefox
  4. Open Firefox and navigate to the page about:accounts
  5. From here set up a new account, or sign in with the account you may have already set up on the other device.

I think this is the step missing: unlinking this device.

Hi Guigs2 thank you again. I am struggling with time now so will try another time.

However the lack of folders function on Android means it won't work for me while I am travelling. So it is Chrome on the phone and trying to remember to copy bookmarks. Will still use FF on laptop when I am at home though.

If FF Android gets folders I will use it!

Kind regards, Peter

Where are my Desktop Bookmarks in FF Mobile after ("New Sync") Syncing to my Desktop Account? I'll tell you, there not here! THE IDIOCY CONTINUES WITH FF MOBILE! They synced fine with Dolphins Firefox sync feature in the Dolphin Browser. So the "IDIOCY" descriptor most appropriate and there's no Folders in FF Mobile! UNREAL! Also, when you consider their horrible support! It makes me want to stop using FF Desktop too. For their ineptitude is absolutely unacceptable and inexcusable! I have tried to use FF Mobile on my Android Devices many times over the last two years and this is my last attempt! Mozilla is obviously to busy wasting time and energy creating a Mobile OS nobody wants and Nobody will use! Disgusting! Ciao, Firefox Mobile Creators or should I say Beavis & Butthead!
