Firefox as of a week ago will not refresh Yahoo
On my desktop (laptop is okay), my homepage is Yahoo portal, when I start FF, Yahoo loads and displays correctly, if I try any link, I get streaming text only scrolling down the page, if I click a link, close FF and start it again, the link now loads and displays properly, but again if I click any link or click on the Home icon (which is set to Yahoo portal), it displays text. Been like this for a couple weeks (the desktop has auto update for FF, so I'm not certain which one started the problem. All works fine in IE or Chrome. My laptop (which has identical addons) works fine. I disabled all addons from the desktop, but still the same result. Is there anyway I can reinstall FF without losing all my bookmarks and settings? I think this is the cleanest solution, just don't want to lose everything I've accumulated over the last 10+ years.

Hi zshoppe
Weird. I doubt this is a Firefox problem since it works fine in Firefox on your laptop.
Some more stuff to try and questions:
- Please tell us your OS version (it's fine in Windows 8.1 for me and Mac OS X 10.9.5; I assume you are using Windows since you mentioned IE)
- Have you tried Firefox Safe mode? If not please try it and see if that fixes the problem. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

HI zshoppe
I am in Canada so I can only set my Firefox Home page to the Canadian Portal at:
And I don't see the problem. Maybe it's USA specific?
Could you please post a screenshot or short video of "streaming text only scrolling down the page,"?
thanks!

Hello Roland,
First off, thanks for your response, not a USA problem as it works fine on my laptop and tablet, it's just on my desktop (which is setup the exact same way as my laptop). Here is the before refresh and after refresh screenshots. Not only is it a problem when refreshing the home page of Yahoo, every and any link off the page generates the exact same result ... just text.
Thanks, Leon

Very good, Safe Mode worked, what I will do when I have a few extra minutes is to go into the system and add 1 addon at a time and see which one is giving me the problem. Thank you very much for your help and as soon as I complete the process I'll return and let you know so if in the future there are others that have a similar problem.
Regards, Leon
I found the culprit and of course it's my favorite - AdBlock Plus, curious how it works okay on the laptop and not the desktop, but actually not a problem, the desktop is for work related tasks, so I'm usually in a secured site doing work and no worries on ads. Also found that FF starts in seconds vs minutes with it disabled ... this solves one of my other frustrations. Thank you for your time Roland, much appreciated.! After reading the AdBlock web site, it could be one of my personal filters, as time permits I'll go back and seek out the individual culprit, but for now, I get one ad in Yahoo, I can live with it.

hi again zshoppe!
glad you got it working. I am therefore going to close this thread. Please ask a new question if you run into further issues.
Cheers!
