What happens when you try to upload PDF and DOC files -- is there a specific error message?
If this is afflicting one site, here's my general suggestion: When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
- right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
- (menu bar) Tools > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
there is no any message. thanks no success
Could you walk me through the steps and where it fails? For example: Firefox displays a dialog to let you choose the file, but when you click the upload or submit button, then there is a difference between what happens with DOC/PDF and other kinds of files.
Because different sites use different methods for uploading, can you mention what site has the problem?
when i"m clicking on upload button inside the web site lib. armedu.am. it opens - this pc and when i"m trying to open any folder to choose any pdf or word document to upload, then all pdf and word files are disappearing in that folder. Because of no such problem when opening site with IE, i think its Firefox problem. I month ago there was no such problem. Maybe Firefox updates?
Oh, so you can't even select PDF and DOC files in the dialog.
Sometimes the dialog will have a filter control on the right side indicating what kinds of files the page accepts. For example, if you click the Browse... button below the text entry box on this forum, there is a control which lets you view either all files (*.*) or various categories of image files. (Screen shot attached as an example)
On the site where you have this problem, could you check that there isn't a filter which is hiding the types of files you want to upload?
Ive tried from another PC, but from the same home internet connection. Same strange result and there is no filter for pdf and word files. I can upload only rar zip and video. As Ive said, with IE there is no such problem. IE opens same web site with same upload button and all is ok- you can choose any type of file and upload with no problem.
If you try to force the file type by opening a folder that you know contains PDF files and typing
in the file name and pressing Enter, will the dialog list any PDF files?
It's possible that it is a custom uploader that uses Flash or Java and doesn't work the same as the standard uploader. I'm not sure I can help in that case.
Ive tried copy and past pdf document in that folder, but after a second it disappeared. Trying to search it cant find any pdf document.
If you look at the folder using Windows Explorer (Windows key + E), is there anything unusual about the description of PDF and DOC files? Do they still have their usual descriptions: "Adobe Acrobat Document" and "Microsoft Word Document"?
No any visual difference between IE and Firefox and MY PC opening folders procedures. web site example http://lib.armedu.am/resource/edit/3303
Unfortunately, I can't access that page without a login for the site. (I think that's the problem: I actually cannot read the language used on the site.)
if you can open try click on the word Վերբեռնել marked blue over marked red pdf.
Ive copied a file link from the IE open file, pasted it in the Firefox open file and it worked. But I think its not a good solution.
Ive tried from another pc and another location-same problem. Tried upload by Chrome and IE- all OK, no problem. By the way, there is newly appeared typing problem in the Firefox also. Typing fonts in text, appears ......I think your recent updates are wrong.
