When I opened Firefox today, I only had today's history. I checked my privacy settings. It is set to save history.
It was working a few days ago. But yesterday I had big issues with my Mozilla email and now this morning I am having issues with Firefox. Did something happen that I don't know about?

Unless you have a backup, when data is removed, it is gone.
Because the browsers history was removed, you have no past.
These can't get your data back, but will help in the future.
These add-ons can be a great help by backing up and restoring Firefox
FEBE (Firefox Environment Backup Extension) {web link} FEBE allows you to quickly and easily backup your Firefox extensions, history, passwords, and more. In fact, it goes beyond just backing up -- It will actually rebuild your saved files individually into installable .xpi files. It will also make backup of files that you choose.

Hello,
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder, which handles all your Firefox bookmarks, files you have downloaded, and websites you have previously visited.
Either enter about:support in your address bar, or go to:
- Help (or > ) > Troubleshooting Information
Beside Profile Folder, click the "Show Folder" button to access the location of the file. Make sure it isn't read only. You can also install the Places Maintenance extension to run maintenance on the file. Please read the following articles first as they provide helpful hints and instructions that may be relevant to you:
I so appreciate your answering so quickly but I am not a real technical person and had a hard time understanding what to do next. Could you explain it in easier terms for me to understand. Thanks.
Looking at your title, it seems that the places.sqlite file which stores your browsing history isn't set to read-only; if it were you wouldn't be able to see any history at all I think, so don't worry about the first part of my post.
Try installing the add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/places-maintenance/
After installing, enter about:addons in your address bar, or go to:
- Tools (or ) > Add-ons > Extensions
- Beside the Places Maintenance extension, click the Options button
I'll have to apologize because I have had an issue with my places.sqlite file before, so I am not completely sure what the best way to use the add-on is for your particular issue. Try running with the Preset All and click Execute, hopefully that will bring back your browsing history.
It might be a good idea to read through:
As it contains the steps you would follow in each situation.
After the add-ons window opens, at the top is a menu button. Choose All, then start the tests. Do not worry about understanding what is displayed. After, close the window, restart Firefox, and try again.
I so appreciate both of you who are trying to help me. I have done exactly as instructed but when I open History I see today and yesterday only. This problem started yesterday (Thursday) when I opened up History. There was nothing there but "Today". I needed to find a website I was using the prior day (Wednesday).
It must be working only because I now have "Yesterday" and "Today" in there BUT I have not been able to recover History past yesterday!!
I am still open to more suggestions.
