Firefox says I have v11 of Adobe Flash Player but Adobe (and Internet Explorer) say I have v16. How to fix this?
According to the the Firefox Add-ons Manager and the plug-in check page, I am running version 11.6.602.180 of Shockwave Flash, so I went to the Adobe website to download the current version (16.0.0.296). Adobe says I am already running the latest version; so does the Add-ons manager in Internet Explorer. What should I do?

You can uninstall current Flash player version(s) and (re)install the latest Flash version.

Internet Explorer uses a different version of Flash that Firefox does. You need to install and update them both separately.
In your control panel, uninstall Flash 11. Then, install https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/download/?installer=FP_16_for_Firefox_-_NPAPI&standalone=1
Hello kskelley you have installed both versions, Shockwave Flash 11.6 r602 and Shockwave Flash 16.0 r0, uninstall the older 11.6.602.180, keep only the latest 16.0.0.296 !
thank you
Thanks very much to both of you for getting back to me so quickly. I should have mentioned that in the Windows Control Panel it only shows version 16, not version 11. When I installed v16 yesterday I ran the tool from Adobe that is supposed to remove old versions, and got a message that an older version had been removed. For some reason, Firefox is still seeing two versions.

Thanks to cor-el for providing a link to the uninstaller that actually found the old plug-in that was lurking on my system. Once that was gone (I had to delete it manually) I was able to re-install. Thanks also to Tyler Downer for pointing out that Firefox uses a different version of Shockwave than IE, and providing the link to download it.
