can edit the fields I want and it successfully imports but will not display my contacts, why?
I have tried exporting my contacts in idif then csv files, arranged the fields (name, email addr) then imported the named file (csv or idif) into the address book. I can scroll and see each contact in the imported file (name and email address) then click ok hoping to see my contact listed in the address book, but nothing. I can create an email, key in the first letter of a contact and select who I want to email and it places it in the TO window but I can not see a list of all my contacts in the address book window. Why? What else do I need to do to get my contacts to display in the address book list? I'm running Thunderbird 31.6.0
Many Thanks!

I have heard that restarting Thunderbird after an import helps.
Exiting and relaunching Thunderbird is all I know to do, but it still does not display my contacts.
Are you saying that you see the imported address book in the Directory Pane of the address book window but the contacts are not there or you do not see the imported book at all?
Do you have the Directory Pane showing in the address book window? If not select View-Layout-Directory Pane
You should see the two default books, the Personal and the Collected books, and the imported book.
I don't see my contacts in the address book window even though I believe they are in Thunderbird. when I open my address book window I see column headings (name, email address, etc) across the top with personal address book and Collected addresses down the left side but no contacts detail. I would attach a print screen to this comment if I knew what valid extension this comment takes.
A successfully imported address book will create a new book. They do not go into one of the existing books. The new book should be listed in the Directory Pane on the left with the Personal and Collected books.
