I never use them (new window preferred) and they just take up space. I might seem a little snippy but I've just been strongarmed by my bank into upgrading from V22 (where I never had to contend with tabs) to V38. I hate change especially as this one gives me nothing.

There are a few add ons that do this like: [addons.mozilla.org]\ RemoveTabs, HideTabbar, and Hide Tab Bar with One tab.

There are also tab groups: Use Tab Groups to organize a lot of tabs
