The Print Selection Only option is grayed out in the Print Window after updating to 49.0.2. It is disabled in spite of highlighted text on the page. This glitch occurred for me after installing 49.0.2 on 10-21-16. The Print Selection Only option always worked before, so something is clearly wrong as a result of this update. It's imperative to be able to print just the selected text versus an entire document. Please fix this asap Firefox. Thank you!

Is anybody able to take a look at this problem? Print Selection Only is still not working in Firefox after selecting text, and I am now using Firefox 50.0.1. This has been going on for months, and I am not the only user who has posted this same issue. The print selection only option works in Word documents, just not in Firefox webpages.

I spoke with Apple about this today, and apparently they are aware of the problem. Safari is also affected. Highlighted text from webpages cannot be selectively printed at this time. They suggested doing screenshots as a workaround, however that is a more time-consuming option when one needs to send material via PDF, and it is problematic if the text to be selectively highlighted goes beyond the size of one's window. Is there anything that can be done on Firefox's side?

You can easily create a screenshot that shows the full page in as Firefox window.

You can use an extension or the built-in screenshot command.

Firefox comes with a feature to take a full page screenshot as part of built-in developer tools. Firefox has a setting in the web developer toolbox settings to add a button to the toolbar of the Web Developer toolbox to take a full page screenshot.

The (default) file name is "Screen Shot yyyy-mm-dd at HH.MM.SS.png" and the file is saved to the Downloads folder (TmpD). You can right-click and select "Inspect Element" to open the Inspector (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) and have access to the developer tools including the cogwheel icon to access the toolbox settings and find the "Take a fullpage screenshot" (camera) button once you have enabled this button.

Try to disable multi-process tabs in Firefox. You can disable multi-process tabs in Firefox by setting the related prefs to false on the about:config page.

  • browser.tabs.remote.autostart = false
  • browser.tabs.remote.autostart.2 = false
