My employer gives everyone a default password for email accounts, and I'd like to make mine different for security. Can't find a way to do this in account settings, etc. Help?

In the mail protocols there is now method to change your password, so Thunderbird can't do this for you. Probably your password is linked to your account with which you log in into the system, so if you change your password there, Thunderbird will notice that the password has changed and prompt you for a new password. If that's not the case, you may have a web interface where you can access your email and you have the possibility there to change your password.
