Different Firefox versions on two computers both claiming to be up to date
Firefox on both my Windows 10 computers claims to be up to date. But on one it's version 55.0.1 (64-bit) and the other it's 54.0.1 (64-bit). Both are on the release channel.
Why?

That's normal. The automatic update initially gets 10% of users, the next day 20%, 50% and so on. If there are any errors in the telemetry, the update is disabled, so happens this time. Now the update to 55.0.1 has been released and version 55 has been upgraded. And people with version 54.0.1 will get 55.0.1 right away, as engineers will make sure everything is ok.

Is there a way to force the upgrade?
Go to the download page and get the full installer.
Help > About Firefox should trigger a manual check for the 55.0.1 update.

True, and you might even notice that 55.0.2 is out already.

It did not, hence my question. It appeared to check, but then said I was up to date with 54.0.1 .

Please read TyDraniu's first post again ....... And then his second post if you don't want to wait and update now.
Updates from 54.0.1 to 55.0.1 had been disabled, only updates from 55.0 to 55.0.1 were allowed. Now that Firefox 55.0.2 has been released it should be possible to update both 54.0.1 and 55.0.1 to Firefox 55.0.2
