Bookmarks that I have deleted are restored within 24 hours and appear in "Recently Bookmarked"
I have deleted a series of bookmarks including dead links and within 24 hours, they appear again in my Bookmarks. They appear in the folder "Recently Bookmarked." I have done this multiple times. How can I solve this so that when I delete the link, it permanently deletes the bookmark?

Are you using sync?
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks and history) in the Firefox profile folder.

If you use Sync then best is to disconnect Sync while performing maintenance/repair efforts to files in the Firefox profile folder.
Have you tried what cor-el told you?

Yes. After taking all of the steps outlined in the links, I waited 24 hours. The formerly deleted links have appeared again.
Note that "Recently Bookmarked" is not a real existing folder, but is a so called smart folder that shows the result of a places database query. Any changes made items listed in a smart folder are applied to the actual bookmark that is stored elsewhere. If you create a new bookmark then present items will be pushed down and may disappear from the list. If you would remove these items at the top of the list then older items that were pushed out of the list will reappear in the list.
