Thunderbird keeps telling me a message may be a scam, but I have added that sender to my Personal Address Book.

Greetings :)

As mentioned in the title, I have tried to indicate to Thunderbird that the sender is 'friendly'. I have added the sender to my Personal and Collected Addresses, as well as adding their newsletter email and set 'Do not automatically mark mail as junk if the sender is in' my personal address book. I have also enabled 'adaptive junk mail controls for this account'. However, the problem still occurs.

If anyone knows how to overcome this issue I would be grateful.

Scam detection and Junk are two different things. The only adjustment for Scam detection is to turn it on or off.

I'm having this issue as well. A internet forestry forum site I frequent sends me notifications of replies to topics I am following. Recently, Thunderbird has been flagging EVERY single one of them with the red bar and "This message may be a scam". The content is rather basic: just some text, a link to the new reply on the forum, and another link to unsubscribe.

I see how to turn scam detection on or off. I prefer to have it on. Is there no way to get Thunderbird to "learn" that these are not scams?

No there is not. It is on or off. As I understand this feature is not being worked on and there is no plans for updates. This article explains Scam Detection. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbirds-scam-detection
