TF&SC is mainly intended to modify fonts for menus and threads and folder panes. To make permanent changes to the fonts for messages, open Tools/Options/Display/Formatting/Fonts & Colors/Advanced... and change the Size settings, both for Fonts for: Latin and Other Writing Systems. You might also benefit from unchecking 'Allow messages to use other fonts'.

I appreciate your reply. However, your response did not help with the issue.

Let me try and describe this issue a little better: When clicking on a message in the inbox, the message response font size is nearly impossible to read. This is the problem!

The message listings with regards to font size in the inbox are no problem.

Why is it the overall font sizing in TB is difficult to figure out as a general user?

I'm not sure you can affect the size of the response from within Thunderbird with getting all complicated with CSS.

Have you increased the screen resolution DPI setting in your operating system?

Have tried changing the DPI settings. No change!!

Why would the text size in the inbox message listings be OK but when I open any message the size of the text is nearly unreadable? Yet, if I click on reply or forward, the text size changes to a readable size again.

In older versions of TB, this was not a problem. The problem occurred on the latest release (60.5.0).

Make sure you have the fixed version of TF&SC:

Under TF&SC Options, change the Zoom setting to something like 125% or 150%.

Unfortunately, your previous suggestions did not help my problem.

Let me clarify the issue as to what is happening when using TB:

1. When I open the Inbox in TB, the messages listing text size is OK.

2. When I open a specific message, the text size is unreadable for these 78 year old eyes.

3. If I click on message reply or forward, the text size returns to OK.

I am aware of the "ctrl / mouse wheel or +/- to change text size.

Also, prior to the latest release of Thunderbird (60.5.0), this problem did not exist.

Hoping you or other support guys can help on this irritating issue.

Your issue is understood, but it's not clear if you have followed the suggestions provided earlier. Did you install the correct add-on and change the settings as recommended? You must realize your problem is specific to your setup and not due to any shortcoming in TB, otherwise this forum would be flooded with similar complaints.

Note however, I think you are mistaken about https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/theme-font-size-changer-fixed/ being able to change text size of message display and replies in message compose.

OK, let's start this discussion without the use of Theme Font & Size Changer.

If I remove TF&SC and open TB, all of the Font /Text sizing in inbox and messages etc is so small, I can hardly read it.

Please lead me down the right path how to increase the text/ font sizing from this point forward.

At this point I do not see any information provided telling the forum what settings you are currently using.

Please tell us what you have for the following:

• 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Display' > 'Formatting' tab
• click on 'Advanced..' button

the 'Fonts & Encodings' window opens It will look like image below.

What 'size' have you got selected ?

How to create and Post an image.

• press the 'Prt Scr' key on keyboard to capture image of what you see on the screen
• Open an image program like 'Paint'.
• 'Edit' > 'Paste'

• 'File' > 'Save as'
• Save image as jpg to your desktop.

Then in this forum question you can add images by clicking on 'Browse', selecting the jpg file you just created and saved on desktop. click on 'Open'.

• In this forum question, right click in a 'Post a Reply' text box and select 'Paste'
• You can edit/remove all info on accounts and printers, but do not remove anything else. We need to see the list of addon extensions and anything to do with fonts.
• click on 'Post Reply' button

Please perform this test: restart Thunderbird in Safe Mode.

In Thunderbird 'Help' > 'Restart with addons disabled'

Report back on results regarding font size of emails.

In Safe Mode, the following was observed:

Inbox Message Listing: Very small font size

Open Message: Combination of small and readable font size

Reply to or forward message: Message readable font size

What setting are you using in this location: View -> Message Body As Are you using 'Original HTML' or 'Simple HTML' or 'Plain Text' ?

If you select each one, what difference does it make (if any) to the text in received email.
