I am trying to delete bookmarks from Firefox on my MacPro. The instructions call for clicking on "the star". There is no star. Everything on the menu line has actions to do everything BUT delete a bookmark!

Did you try the Bookmarks Manager (Library) as that is probably the easiest way on Mac to delete a bookmark? On other platforms you would use Delete in the right-click context menu of a bookmark, but this may not be available on Mac.

The bookmark star should normally appear in the "Page actions" drop-down list (3-dot icon at the right end of the location/address bar). You can right-click an item in the "Page actions" drop-down list to add its button to the location/address bar for easy access.

If you open a bookmarked link in a tab then the star should be highlighted and if you click the highlighted star then you can edit and remove this bookmark.

Open the Bookmarks Manager; Press the Alt or F10 key to bring up the toolbar, and select Bookmarks. Hot key is <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> B.

Use the search box to find that you want. Right-click and select Delete,

If you are getting error messages, [v57+] Places Maintenance is built into Firefox.

Type about:support<enter> in the address bar.

You will find Places Database near the bottom. Press the Verify Integrity button.

When done, copy and post the results here.

In case errors are reported with "Verify Integrity" close and restart Firefox and retry.

If "Verify Integrity" cannot repair places.sqlite then remove all places.sqlite and favicons.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder. Firefox will rebuild places.sqlite and restore the bookmarks from a recent JSON backup in the bookmarkbackups folder.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:preferences page.

Hello kingfisher68,

Would you try this please : Click on the Page actions (3-dot) menu button (right end of the address bar) - do you see the star icon there  ?

My question was : "do you see the star icon there  ?"

That star icon has got be somewhere - how else would you bookmark a page ...... (and in this case : delete, even though you can do that in the Library)

How about on the Customize page - do you see the star icon
there  ? (Preferences => Customize)
