Cookies keep reappearing after deletion
I have had Firefox set to delete cookies upon closure for several years now. I recently noticed that some cookies were present as soon as the browser was opened, which should not be happening.
This set of cookies reappears every time I open Firefox, even if I manually delete all the cookies, and even if I delete the cookies.sqlite file in between closing Firefox and reopening it.
This problem occurs on two machines with Firefox. One with Windows 7 and one with Windows 10. I have Sync configured to keep bookmarks the same on both machines. I was wondering if this may have something to do with it, as the same set of 'zombie cookies' keeps reappearing on both machines?

Do you possibly restore tabs with these websites as that might include cookies (cookies for tabs are stored in sessionstore.jsonlz4 as part of session data) ?
Other possible causes might be tiles on the Firefox Home page if you use this page.
Thanks for the response.
Both the homepage and new tabs are set to show just the default Firefox Home.
@ cor-el: I don't appear to have a sessionstore.jsonlz4 on my computer - it doesn't show up in searches.
If tiles on the Firefox Home page are causing this, how do I stop it?
Many thanks again.
sessionstore.jsonlz4 is only present in the profile folder when when Firefox is closed.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Folder/Directory:
Windows: Open Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-where-firefox-stores-user-data
The cookies are still reappearing when I start Firefox and sometimes after opening a new tab, even if new tabs and the home page are set to show a blank page and nothing else. I have no idea what is causing this, any further suggestions?
