My tab bar does not appear, ever. It says I have tabs open but I cannot access them. I use version 3.6.6

I have "always show tab bar" selected but it never shows up. I have had this problem for a while and I am getting frustrated. When I select "open link in new tab" the page I was on previously is now gone. When I close the dialogue box says "you are about to close two tabs". So they are there. I just can't see them. Please tell me what to do. Thank you.

When I open Mozilla the only thing that appears at the top of the page are "Most Visited, Getting Started, Latest Headlines" etc. Where have my menu and search bar disappeared to. Ugh
