gmail attachment not uploading to new mails

my computer was installed with the most recent version of Windows 7 OS. Every time I try to attach a document to a new mail on my gmail account , using firefox, the attachment does not upload. However if I use Internet explorer (IE) to send a gamil with attachment i have no issues what so ever.

N.B. - I do not have issues with Hotmail when uing firefox

I have the same problem with Firefox 3.6.12 in Kubuntu 10.04.

switching to basic attachment features doesn't work, switching to basic HTML view doesn't work, running Firefox in safe mode doesn't work.

Nevertheless, I can successfully upload attachments with Opera
