Why are the tabs delayed? I hear this is a Chrome feature...I don't want it.

When I close a tab, all the other tabs remain the same width for a moment and then shift to fit the tab bar. I don't like this delay, how do I get rid of it?

It looks as though the tabs don't expand until you move your mouse pointer off of the tab bar, menu bar, and toolbars. I think this was so you don't have to move the mouse pointer to close the next tab, but I haven't researched the back story.
