I have downloaded Firefox 5 twice. Now I am getting an e-mail telling me to download the new security attachments. When I click it what I get is downloading Firefox 5. I do not not see anything about downloading a new attachment for security purposes. When I click downloading Firefox 5 I am told that I already have it. How do get just the security component. Firefox does not send emails to users about anything. Who is the sender of that email? It's probably a scam. You have Firefox 4.0.1 as indicated in your System details. You might want to scan your Mac with anti-virus/spywares programs to make sure no malwares and/or spywares were installed. That could have explained why you received such email.

FYI, Even if your email has an attachment, you should never open it unless it's being sent from someone you know.

And are these reminders come in the form of emails or pop-ups? If they are emails, I'll report them as spams and delete them.

What anti-virus/spyware for Mac do you suggest?

Actually, since you are using a Mac, your chances of getting viruses/spywares are pretty slim.

You didn't tell me if these reminders came in the form of emails or pop-ups. If they are emails, just report them as spams and delete them.

If you want Firefox 5, you can download it from Mozilla's official site:

One last thing, I would recommend you not using your email address as your user name in any public forums. Spammers hunt for email addresses in public forums for spamming purposes.

MAC anti-virus: http://www.pcworld.com/article/229342/antivirus_vendors_pounce_on_mac_malware_scare.html

When upgrading, follow the instructions in the following article. After saving the .dmg file to your desktop, drag the old Firefox to Trash, then install the .dmg file per the instructions. Your personal information (bookmarks, passwords, etc.) should be safe; they are in a different location.

Good article, Helper7677. I used to use a Mac several years ago but have since stopped because Macs have just gotten too expensive. When I used Mac, I loved it as I didn't have to worry about virus attack. Someday I might try Mac again.
