Will a version be made that will be compatable with the HTC ARIA phone?

more options

Since there are several models of HTC phones that can support the mobile version of Firefox, will the HTC ARIA ever be included in that list? I have been able to get my phone rooted and was sure that I would be able to load Firefox mobile on it, but when checking the list of compatible devices, mine is on the list. I am currently running the CYANOGEN Mod on the phone.

The phone has an incompatible CPU. Firefox requires an Android device with ARMv7 CPU support.

I understand about the current processor incompatibility problem, and had seen my phone in the list of devices that would not work. What I was really trying to find out if is there is going to be any future releases that will be able to work with my device since the CPU issue is already know? Firefox is my browser of choice at home and work, and I would like to be able to use it on my phone as well. Thanks...

Hey cjlarkin21740,

There were at one point experimental ARM v6 builds of Fennec that may or may not have worked on your device, the HTC Aria. They contained bugs that caused them to crash immediately, so they were no longer useful for testing.

The mobile developers are currently focusing on devices that can run current versions of Firefox with acceptable performance, and the ARM v7 instruction set in a variety of devices was selected for optimal use.

As they improve Firefox's speed and memory use, it might become possible for them to support ARMv6 phones in the future, but they are not actively working on it now.

Thanks Aaron, that's what I wanted to know, if anything was actively being worked on at this point. I guess I will just have to be patient and keep checking for availability.
