FF14 is crashing randomly after every 15 minutes. Is this problem a general problem after updating from FF13. All plugins are up to date. No virus on system. Does any one have any solutions?

Thanks

Try this Avoid crashes - Tips and tricks or Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly)

Have you tried to start firefox with all addons disabled ? (Help Menu -> Restart with disabled addons)

More information, from the crash report for the first Crash ID listed in "More system details":

https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/report/index/63e76a0f-b807-4eab-a83c-4d14c2120719 Firefox 14.0.1 Crash Report [@ StrChrIA ]

.....the crash report links to a related bug,

Bug 530074 - Crash [@ StrChrIA from winsock and shlwapi.dll (LSP, evil *x86.dll module, or BitDefender)]

So, your crash seems to be related to Bit Defender antivirus software or one if its components (BdProvider.dll). I did a google search and according to this page, the file BdProvider.dll is the Bitdefender parental provider plugin.

If Firefox no longer crashes when you restart with add-ons disabled, look in the Firefox Add-ons Extensions list for any BitDefender add-on and disable it (see Disable or remove add-ons for details), then restart Firefox to see if the crashes stop.

You could also contact BitDefender support or ask for help on the BitDefender forums.

Dear Alice,

In context to add ons i just have Add Block plus,Ghostery,HTTPS every where and Linkextend NO addons from bitdefender.

But i guess the crash problem is also with other users who are not using bitdefender as their antivirus. Shall also post a request on the bitdefender forum as you have advised. Can it be the Flash player creating the problems or is FF14 still in a testing state and is not stable for commercial use? Thanks.

The fact that you have RealPlayer and Flash 11.3 installed is a complication but your crash reports don't show that it is the cause of Fireflx 14 crashing. See Adobe Flash plugin has crashed - Prevent it from happening again and Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox for more information.

Your Firefox 14.0.1 crash report does show BitDefender (BdProvider.dll) listed in the Winsock LSP (Layered Service Provider) and crashing thread sections. Since you don't see any BitDefender add-ons listed in the Firefox Add-ons -> Extensions list, then see if you find a setting within BitDefender itself to turn off any unneeded BitDefender "add-ons", or else turn off BitDefender temporarily to see if that resolves the crashes. If you need help with that, you should ask on the BitDefender forum, where I see this thread was started yesterday:

Here is a quote from post 9 in that thread, by rgeneson:

I've confirmed (on my Win7 64bit at least) that there is an interaction between BitDefender Internet Security 2013 and Firefox 14.0.1 which causes Firefox to crash. Removal of BitDef resolves issue and re-install re-creates issue. The crash report from Firefox is not incredibly helpful but I'm happy to provide if you'd like. Flash content seems to provoke more frequent break-downs but is not a necessary condition for Firefox to bomb out. I'll mess around with my specific settings to see if I can't discover which BitDef module (if any) is the culprit.

Dear Alice,

Thanks, shall see how to disable the parental control in bitdefender in the mean time i guess its better to roll back to FF13.

Regards,

From what I could find, you might not be able to turn off the "parental control" feature from within BitDefender 2013 so that route may be a dead-end.

Before downgrading to Firefox 13, you should contact BitDefender support, to see if Firefox 14.0.1 crashes is a known issue and if a BitDefender update is in the works. Related BitDefender forum topic:

dineshsoni, You replied to a question in a solved thread where the last reply was over a month ago. This is not the place to get help if the posted solution (updating to Firefox 15) didn't work for you.

If Firefox is crashing, see Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly).

If you need more help, you should ask a new question. You can use this link as a starting point: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/new

I'm locking this thread.
