I used Notepad to create a text file, markup.html, that contains html code. How can I get Firefox to execute this code?

Also, how can I use the <script> tag in the html code using the src attribute to execute code in a file written in Javascript?

To execute the html file go where it is, click with right button mouse select "open with", then select Firefox.

To call a extern script do this: <script type="text/javascript" src="exemple.js"></script>

Thank you for your response. I tried your solution. However, Firefox only displays the text code and does not execute it. The same thing happens in Internet Explorer.

Hello,

The problem can be on the code.

If you can print the code.

First guess is that you did not use an .html extension on the file. The file may well be name.html.txt

Forum Note

This is normally offtopic for this forum. I say normally because now we cover webmaker questions. I wonder if this is therefore on topic as a webmaker question?

When you create a text file in Windows then this file will get a hidden .txt file extension like John99 posted. Firefox should show you that wrong name if you open the file in a Firefox tab.
You can save that file another time in Firefox and give it the correct name that ends in .html (choose "All files" if necessary).
If you want to create an HTML file with a .html file extension then always make sure to select "All files" and not "Text files" when saving the file.
