Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash update and/or a malfunctioning browser plugin such as Real Player.

In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:

Thanks, Meghraj. Did it, no change. I also uninstalled and re-installed Firefox but it seems only the site I mentioned above fails to work. Did you try it? G

Thanks, Meghraj. YouTube works fine, but I found two more sites - the first one asks me to download Flashplayer, (which I have done several times):

http://www.cbc.ca/player/News/Canada/Edmonton/ID/2418013602/

and the second just sits there with a black screen: http://www.edmontonsun.com/videos/featured/featured-edm/1213592868001/raw-uproar-at-toronto-city-hall-when-pot-question-asked/2835571382001

It seems that some TV stations are the problem sites. However, the NY Times site works OK. Garry

Then i think it is not a flash player issue, may be site is in under updated, or may be a site issue, because if your flash player is not working with YouTube then it can be a Flash player issue, otherwise their is a problem in site or site issue.

Thank you

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

I have done everything suggested above, reinstalled Firefox, Flash, opened in safe mode, did the add-ons bit and now Flash does not even work in Chrome! YouTube works in both browsers. So who can I put the horns on - Firefox or Adobe? This is simply not acceptable, especially after I have done nothing to my computer, save updating Flash, prior to this problem. Garry

Ahah! I found the culprit! It was the avast online security extension! I had disabled all the add-ons and neglected to check the extensions. Upon disabling it, everything is back to normal. Thank you for all your efforts and input! Garry
