Firefox in Mac OS X has in Preferences->Applications a content type of "ssh". This allows SSH urls to launch the terminal for ssh connections. Linux versions of FireFox do not have that option. I have read online that you need to add in about:config the following preference network.protocol-handler.expose.ssh = false. I have done that but still no method to configure or set an action based on this type. I have tried this in the latest releases of Debian, Centos, Fedora, Ubuntu and LinuxMint.

I have tried this recommendation

http://www.tolaris.com/2010/08/23/enabling-telnet-and-ssh-urls-in-firefox-for-linux/

BUT all I get is that Firefox doesn't understand the address.
